Matrix computation. 2nd ed. (English) Zbl 0808.65015

Chichester: Wiley. xvi, 427 p. (1992).
[For the first edition (1977) see Zbl 0355.65018.]
The second edition has been revised and expanded to incorporate new material. There are new chapters on nonlinear equations and on parallel and vector computing. As in the first edition, the style of the book is descriptive and many explanations are given in the form of examples. A large number of algorithms are described in FORTRAN.
Contents: (1) Basic algebraic and numerical concepts; (2) Some matrix problems; (3) Computer implementation; (4) Elimination methods for linear equations; (5) Sparse matrix elimination; (6) Some matrix eigenvalue problems; (7) Transformation methods for eigenvalue problems; (8) Sturm sequence methods; (9) Vector iterative methods for partial eigensolutions; (10) Orthogonalization and re-solution techniques for linear equations; (11) Iterative methods for linear equations; (12) Nonlinear equations; (13) Parallel and vector computing.
