Collins, W. D. Synchronous running of a double-stator permanent magnet motor with a series capacitor. (English) Zbl 1288.78025 IMA J. Appl. Math. 79, No. 1, 94-108 (2014). Summary: A mathematical model is established for a double-stator permanent magnet synchronous motor when voltage-fed with a series capacitor in one circuit. Non-dimensional parameters governing the behaviour of the motor are identified and resonant oscillations investigated. Criteria are given for the motor to be in synchronous running in only one direction of rotation and the maximum torque the motor can develop investigated.
