Belyakov, R. V. Artificial muscles as sensors for automatic control of liquid media. (English. Russian original) Zbl 0584.92030 Sov. Autom. Control 17, No. 6, 34-40 (1984); translation from Avtomatika 1984, No. 6, 34-39 (1984). Designing principles for sensors used to control liquid media are considered. These sensors are based on contractile polymer structures (artificial muscles). Examples of simplified mechanochemical sensor schemes are given. The kinetic equation of sorption (disorption) and the dynamic equation of longitudinal strain of a thin fiber working as a chemo-viscoelastic sensing element of the mechanochemical sensor have been obtained. The formulas for the coefficients of these equations allow considering the sensitivity and the fast response of the sensors.
