Ohayon, Jacques An analytical approach to the biomechanics of intestinal contraction. (Une approche analytique sur la biomécanique de la contraction intestinale.) (French. Abridged English version) Zbl 0876.73054 C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. II, Fasc. b 324, No. 3, 179-187 (1997). Summary: A mathematical model of the small intestine is presented, which is based on the solid mechanics. This theoretical study is an improvement of a study already done on the mechanics of intestinal contraction where the axial fibres were omitted, see J. Ohayon et al. [ibid., II. Sér. 319, No. 2, 173-180 (1994; Zbl 0803.73060)]. Such an approach could explain the interaction between longitudinal and circular muscles during intestinal contraction.
