Gudhe, R.; Yalamanchili, R. C.; Massoudi, M. Flow of granular materials down a vertical pipe. (English) Zbl 0789.76009 Int. J. Non-Linear Mech. 29, No. 1, 1-12 (1994). Summary: The gravity flow of granular materials down a vertical pipe is studied using a continuum model [M. A. Goodman and S. C. Cowin, Arch. Rat. Mech. Analysis 44, 249-266 (1972; Zbl 0243.76005)]. The equations are developed for both the case of slip and no-slip at the boundary. The resulting boundary value problem is solved numerically. The effects of material parameters (compressibility, volume distribution, and viscous effects) on the volume fraction and velocity in the pipe are studied.
