Es sei \(\nu(N)\) die Maximalzahl von Elementen, die eine Menge \(S\) von nichtnegativen ganzen Zahlen \(\leq N\) enthalten kann, wenn \(S\) keine arithmetische Progression von drei Gliedern enthält. Für jedes \(\varepsilon >0\) ist dann \[ \nu(N) >N^{1-(\log 2+\varepsilon)/\log\log N}. \] Es existiert also kein \(\alpha<1\) derart, dass \(\nu(N)=O(N^\alpha)\). Reviewer: H. D.
