Automatic remeshing methods applied to model modification. (Méthodes de remaillage automatique appliquées à la modification de modèle.) (French) Zbl 0983.74065

Summary: The design process usually implies modifications of initial design solution. At this point, design tools do not allow to perform these modifications efficiently enough. Particularly, when using FE methods, a new FE model has to be rebuilt in order to take into account modifications of the geometric model. We present in this paper an original approach to automatic remeshing of three-dimensional parts, which allows a better integration of FE methods in the whole CAD/CAM process. The optimization of automatic remeshing is achieved through a mesh pre-optimization based on the discretization error. This introduces, in the FE analysis process, a mesh that represents a better approximation of the initial model.
