Flow and heat transfer of a viscoelastic fluid over a flat plate with a magnetic field and a pressure gradient. (English) Zbl 0881.76007

The authors study the flow and heat transfer problem for an electrically conducting, one-parameter viscoelastic fluid over a semi-infinite unmagnetized but conducting plate, assuming that the magnetodynamic pressure gradient is proportional to some power of distance along the boundary. The governing equations are solved numerically using Keller box method, and the effects of viscoelasticity, the magnetic parameter, the magnetic Prandtl number, the surface shear stress, the heat transfer parameter etc., are discussed in greater detail.
The authors propose many possible applications of the problem. On the other hand, the paper presents particular considerations based on adding some terms to existing solutions already solved for simpler problems. The reviewer is disgusted at such an approach.
