This volume represents on 244 pages a collection of 11 papers on modeling, algorithm development, simulation, and verification of the models and numerical results for a large variety of problems from fluid mechanics and gas dynamics. The research articles are writen by well-known Russian scientists in computational gas dynamics and large scale scientific computing. The volume is dedicated to the 75th birthday of the prominent Russian scientist, academician Oleg M. Belotserkovskij.

The first article is written by O. Belotserkovskij and is devoted to general philosophy of “computational experiment” as a powerful tool in science and engineering. Examples of applications to gas dynamics, study of various instabilities in hydrodynamics (Kelvin-Helmholtz, Rayleigh-Taylor, etc.) and modeling of medical processes are discussed, and some numerical examples are given.
