The purpose of this book is to describe the advanced statistical methodology for cancer studies. The reader should be familiar with basic probability, statistical inference, maximum likelihood estimation, regression analysis and the analysis of variance. 15 authors have contributed to this volume.
The main topics are: occurrence of cancer in human populations, the risk of cancer among industrial populations, case-control studies, survival analysis, time-space clustering, genetic studies, screening programs, animal experiments. The importance of statistical methods for cancer studies is reflected by a large number of references at the end of each chapter. Because of the dynamic nature of this field the book is stimulating further research.
