Pulse diffraction by an imperfectly reflecting wedge. (English) Zbl 0102.20503

Während J. J. Stoker [Q. Appl. Math. 5, 1–54 (1947; Zbl 0029.17903)] und A. S. Peters [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 5, 87–108 (1952; Zbl 0046.19904)] das entsprechende Problem bei stationärer einfallender akustischer Sinuswelle behandelten, wird hier eine zur Zeit \(t=0\) ankommende akustische Wellenfront betrachtet. Verwendet wird durchweg die Methode der dynamischen Ähnlichkeit: für das die Wellengleichung erfüllende Geschwindigkeitspotential \(\varphi(r, \theta, t)\) dieses ebenen Problems wird der Ansatz \(\varphi(r/t; \theta)\) eingeführt; im ,,hyperbolischen” Bereich \(r > ct\) (\(c\) ist die Schallgeschwindigkeit) wird dann die Wellengleichung durch Variablentransformation auf \(\partial^2\varphi/\partial\theta^2- \partial^2\varphi/\partial u^2=0\), im ,,elliptischen” Bereich \(r < ct\) auf die Laplacesche Gleichung reduziert. Im elliptischen Bereich wird das Problem funktionentheoretisch behandelt.
Auf Grund des Superpositionsprinzips wird angedeutet, wie der ,,klassische” Fall einer einfallenden stationären Sinuswelle auch so (unter Verwendung einer Laplace-Transformation) zurückgewonnen werden kann.
Schließlich wird der Anschluß zum Fall einer einfallenden elektromagnetischen Welle angegeben.
