The two-volume book includes the proceeedings of eighth international conference on hyperbolic problems – theory, numerics, applications held in Magdeburg, Germany in February/March 2000. It covers mathematical theory, aspects of numerical methods as well as a wide variety of applications related to hyperbolic partial differential equations. It includes contributions from the most well-known research groups in the field, and carefully reviewed nearly 100 individual articles are of high scientific quality. Thus, in summary, the book documents very well the actual state-of-the-art in the field of hyperbolic problems and their numerical solution.
