Numerical solution of heat transfer problem with flow and solidification in round billet continuous casting of steel. (English) Zbl 0937.80005

Summary: Two-dimensional unsteady flow and energy equations are employed for simulation of the flow and heat transfer in round billet continuous casting. A numerical method is developed, by using finite volume method and equivalent specific heat method to solve the equations of flow and heat transfer with solidification. The numerical result shows that the method of this paper is efficient for analyzing the flow and heat transfer with solidification of round billet continuous casting.
