First-order equivalent Lagrangians and conservation laws. (English) Zbl 0567.70017

Equations of motion of an \(n\) degrees of freedom mechanical system are written as a first order system of equation. For this first order system a Lagrangian L and solution-equivalent Lagrangian \(\bar L\) are defined. It is then shown that the symmetry transformation related to solution-equivalence leads to one or more constants of motion. The main idea of the work is interesting. It is however demonstrated by a rather artificial example.
