Parametric eigenvalue-eigenvector assignment in reduced-order observer design. (English) Zbl 0685.93033
This paper considers the problem of designing a reduced-order observer for linear multivariable systems. A design procedure is developed based on the principles of parametric eigenvalue-eigenvector assignment. In addition to arbitrary eigenvalue assignment, arbitrary eigenvector assignment can be achieved if the number of inputs equals or exceeds half the number of state variables. Moreover, if the number of inputs is strictly greater than half the number of state variables, additional parameters can be used to alleviate the impact of misalignment between the initial state of the system and the initial state of the observer.
