Mekh. Astron. 13/14, 23-29 (1982). A famous theorem by Isaac Newton states that a homogeneous spherical shell does not attract interior points. Two generalizations of this result are proved: (i) The layer is bounded by a hypersurface of second degree. (ii) The point is hyperbolic with respect to the surface.
