Dugac, Pierre (ed.) Lettres de Charles Hermite à Gösta Mittag-Leffler (1892-1900). (Letters from Ch. Hermite to G. Mittag-Leffler (1892-1900)). (French) Zbl 0671.01006 Cah. Sémin. Hist. Math. 10, 1-82 (1989). [For the letters 1874-1883, see ibid. 5, 49-285 (1984; Zbl 0525.01008); 1884-1891, 6, 79-217 (1985; Zbl 0549.01005).] This correspondence has been edited by Pierre Dugac. For the history of mathematics, the main interest in these letters consists of the fact that they reflect reactions to mathematical ideas in the last quarter of the last century. In particular, we learn how the ideas of Georg Cantor were met in France from the beginning on. A considerable number of careful notes is supplied by the editor.
