Summary: We propose two constructions of chosen-ciphertext secure identity-based encryption (IBE) schemes. Our schemes have a security proof in the standard model, yet they offer performance competitive with all known random-oracle based schemes. The efficiency improvement is obtained by combining modifications of the IBE schemes by B. Waters [Lect. Notes Comput. Sci. 3494, 114–127 (2005; Zbl 1137.94360)] and C. Gentry [Lect. Notes Comput. Sci. 4004, 445–464 (2006; Zbl 1140.94340)] with authenticated symmetric encryption.
