Phase-field crystals. Fast interface dynamics. (English) Zbl 1416.82002

De Gruyter Studies in Mathematical Physics 51. Berlin: De Gruyter (ISBN 978-3-11-058597-1/hbk; 978-3-11-058809-5/ebook). xii, 122 p. (2019).
The monograph focuses on the analysis of rapidly moving interfaces whose description brings together methods of fast phase transformations and phased-field-crystals methodology. The content of the monograph is divided into two main parts: theoretical and computational. In the theoretical part, the authors consistently derive and solve equations for fast interfaces with their reduction to the hyperbolic PFC equation. In the second part of the monograph, the authors present numerical solutions of the hyperbolic PFC equation as an important tool for the investigation of pattern formation evolving under non-equilibrium conditions.
