Case studies in solving the PDF for particular fluid dynamics problems. (English) Zbl 1158.35406

Summary: The solution of the fluid flow field requires solving the conservation equations for mass and momentum. For flows involving heat transfer or compressibility, an additional equation for energy conservation needs to be solved. The objective of this article is to demonstrate the accuracy of the numerical (CFD) analysis in prediction of the fluid flow cases and turbomachinery performances. A comparison with the experimental data is made, which will later be used as a powerful tool in the design process.
