Molinari, Alain; Dudzinski, Daniel Stationary shear band in high-speed machining. (English. Abridged French version) Zbl 0749.73073 C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. II 315, No. 4, 399-405 (1992). Summary: The shear produced during chip formation in orthogonal cutting is analysed. The workpiece material is supposed to be a viscoplastic material and the flow in the shear zone is assumed adiabatic. The temperature, the components of the velocity, the shear strain and strain rate are calculated for two different steels. The influence of the material parameters on the heterogeneity of the plastic flow is studied.
