Information concepts and pairwise comparison matrices. (English) Zbl 1339.91046

Summary: We present recent results on how information (or entropy) based measures can be used by a decision maker who is utilizing a pairwise comparison methodology. We use these measures to assess judgment accuracy and to decide when to stop the process of pairwise comparisons. We introduce some information indices and illustrate their use in the Analytic Hierarchy Process model of decision making. We discuss how to measure the information content of redundant judgments, and investigate the relationship between information and degree of redundancy.
