Vibration theory and applications with finite elements and active vibration control. (English) Zbl 1336.74003

Hoboken, NJ: John Wiley & Sons (ISBN 978-1-118-35080-5/hbk). xxvi, 947 p. (2016).
The material of this book is drawn from the 35 years of teaching, research, and industrial experiences of author in the areas of vibrations, finite elements and active vibration control. The book provides extensive coverage of vibration-related topics, with particular emphasis on the basic areas of modeling, analysis and applications. It uses practical examples to illustrate the theory, demonstrating how concepts apply to real engineering situations. MAPLE and MATLAB codes are utilized in the many examples throughout the text and in the exercise solutions. Chapters cover topics such as 3D beams and solid finite elements, free vibration response, vibration response due to transient loading, steady-state vibration response to periodic loading, piezoelectric actuators and electromagnetic actuators. The objective of Chapter 12 is to introduce reader to some important aspects of active vibration control that are directly related to the areas of vibration discussed in the prior chapters. Fully illustrated throughout, the book provides the some knowledge required for modern engineering practice. The book is useful for college and university students, practicing engineers and scientists.
