Unique solvability of the Dirichlet problem for an ultrahyperbolic equation in a ball. (English) Zbl 1172.35457

Summary: We obtain a criterion for the uniqueness of a solution to the first initial-boundary value problem in a ball for an ultrahyperbolic equation in terms of the zeros of Jacobi polynomials. The set of values of the coefficient of the equation when the solution of the Dirichlet problem is not unique turns out to be countable and dense on the real axis.
