A variational multiscale method to embed micromechanical surface laws in the macromechanical continuum formulation. (English) Zbl 1098.74007
The author extends the title method to multiple dimensions and to the macromechanical settings on finite strain plasticity. The author presents a special case of traction-displacement laws on internal surfaces. He introduces a scale separation of the displacement field into coarse and fine scale components. Two systems of equations are derived: a macromechanical continuum formulation and a micromechanical law. These equations are finally substituted into the fine scale in the standard weak macromechanical problem. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the method on several benchmarks problems.
