Active control of turbulent boundary layers. (English) Zbl 1094.76034
The authors deal with the formulation and implementation of an active control algorithm for a turbulent boundary layer. The control scheme is based on an active matrix of sensors and actuators that are networked through linear filters that optimally predict the evolution of large-scale structures in the near-wall region. In the present case, two control objectives were pursued: first, the linear cancellation of streamwise velocity fluctuations at a series of control points in the buffer layer, and secondly the minimization of wall pressure fluctuations at a single point downstream of the actuator array.
