Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press (ISBN 0-691-12228-8/pbk). lxxiv, 198 p. (2005).
This volume is a new edition of a book first published in [cf. Einstein’s miraculous year. Five papers that changed the face of physics. (Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press) (1998; Zbl 0922.01023)]. It contains the English versions of five seminal papers of A. Einstein published in 1905, including his doctoral dissertation on the determination of molecular dimensions [see also the review of the Italian translation of the first edition. La Scienza Nuova 114. Bari: Edizioni Dedalo (2001; Zbl 1038.01026)] and the two papers on relativity theory. The volume also includes a foreword by R. Penrose, a publisher’s preface and an introduction by the editor. The novelty of this edition is a centenary edition introduction by the editor. This new introduction of J. Stachel is an excellent biography of Einstein for the period 1900–1905.
This book is a very good introduction to the work of Einstein.
