Anisotropic stars in general relativity. (English) Zbl 1029.83023
A class of exact solutions for the static, spherically symmetric Einstein equations in the presence of an anisotropic fluid is given. The energy conditions are satisfied for a range of the physical parameters. The possibility to describe the matter in astrophysical stars is discussed.
