Summary: A non-hydrostatic vertical two-dimensional numerical model is proposed to calculate free-surface flows. This model is based on solving full Navier-Stokes equations by a finite difference method coupled with Chorin’s projection method. An adaptive Eulerian grid in sigma-coordinate system is used. The model allows to calculate surface waves in estuarine and coastal zones. A benchmark test relative to the soliton propagation is realized to validate the model.
