Holzapfel, Gerhard A.; Gasser, Thomas C.; Ogden, Ray W. A new constitutive framework for arterial wall mechanics and a comparative study of material models. (English) Zbl 1023.74033 J. Elasticity 61, No. 1-3, 1-48 (2000). From the text: We develop a new constitutive law for the description of mechanical response of arterial tissue. The artery is modeled as a thick-walled nonlinearly elastic circular cylindrical tube consisting of two layers corresponding to the media and adventitia. The resulting constitutive law is orthotropic in each layer. The aim is to provide a systematic study of mechanical properties of arteries.
