Investigations on the \(hp\)-cloud method by solving Timoshenko beam problems. (English) Zbl 0987.74070
The authors develop the \(hp\)-cloud method which can be used in both finite and boundary element methods. The method contributes to the recent literature on methods that preclude the use of meshes for representing accurately the numerical solution. The paper reviews the main features of the method, and the results presented are used to examine the sensitivity to different choices of weight functions, to different choices of enrichment functions and to different cloud overlappings. The method is illustrated by its application to solving Timoshenko beam problem.
