Contact conditions for cylindrical, prismatic, and screw joints in flexible multibody systems. (English) Zbl 0985.70003

The title problem is studied in the cases where the strains in elastic bodies are small. Specifically, the authors propose a sliding screw joint connecting finite element models of elastic bodies. The joints contain a flexible beam element which allows free relative rotation of the connecting bodies. Several applications are described.
