Summary: The importance of research and development has been increasing steadily during the last decades and is still growing. As a consequence, methods and tools which can support the R&D planning and decision process also become more numerous and sophisticated. This main chapter gives an overview over important methods and reviews the literature in this area. Special attention is given to the modeling of different kinds of uncertainty using fuzzy logic which is particularly important in R&D planning. A broad spectrum of fuzzy approaches is used to support in research and development decision making.
