Jackson, Roy The dynamics of fluidized particles. (English) Zbl 0956.76004 Cambridge Monographs on Mechanics and Applied Mathematics. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. xii, 339 p. (2000). This book is concerned, primarily, with the so-called two-fluid models, and what light they have been able to throw on a number of important questions concerning the motion of fluidized particles. The first part of the book focuses on an approach to the motion of fluidized suspensions through differential equations of motion, at the level of locally averaged variables, and treats also the associated boundary value problems. The second part is concerned with the behaviour of practical devices in which fluid and particles flow together through ducts. The book is clearly written and offers a new perspective to readers interested in the above topics.
