Modern differential geometry for physicists. 2nd ed. (English) Zbl 0931.53002
World Scientific Lecture Notes in Physics. 61. Singapore: World Scientific. xiii, 289 p. (1999).
The first edition of the book was reviewed in [Zbl 0746.53001]. In this second edition, a new chapter is added, concerning basic notions of general topology (metric spaces, partially ordered sets and lattices, topological spaces, compact spaces, homeomorphisms, separability).
The book grew out from lecture notes of an introductory course in differential geometry, given for theoretical physics Ph.D. or M.Sc. students. The mathematical notions are sprinkled with many remarks and hints of physical flavour; therefore, the text may be extremely valuable for those mathematics students interested in applications of differential geometry to other areas.
