Transonic flow of dense gases around an airfoil with a parabolic nose. (English) Zbl 0913.76042
The authors study the plane transonic flow of dense gases of Bethe-Zeldovitch-Thompson type around a thin airfoil with a parabolic noze by means of matched asymptotic methods. Asymptotic expansions of the velocity potential are constructed in terms of airfoil thickness ratio in an outer region around the airfoil and in an inner region near the noze. Using the hodograph transformation, the authors obtain similarity solutions of the modified Kármán transonic equation. Numerical results illustrate the approach.
