Perspective on unstructured grid flow solvers. (English) Zbl 0896.76002
The outline of this survey paper on unstructured grid flow solvers is as follows. Section II presents the governing equations in integral form. Section III reviews some popular finite volume spatial discretization schemes. Section IV reviews the finite element approach for spatial discretization. Section V reviews the turbulence models in vogue for unstructured grid computations. Section VI presents various alternatives available for time discretization for steady and unsteady problems. Section VII addresses the important topic of grid adaptation. Sections VIII and IX examine higher-order accurate schemes and hybrid discretizations, respectively. Section X briefly examines parallel computing issues. The paper concludes with a listing of issues to be resolved and some future research directions.
