Hydrodynamic turbulence: A 19th century problem with a challenge for the 21st century. (English) Zbl 0886.76039
Boratav, Oluş (ed.) et al., Turbulence modeling and vortex dynamics. Proceedings of a workshop held at Istanbul, Turkey, September 2–6, 1996. Berlin: Springer. Lect. Notes Phys. 491, 1-16 (1997).
Summary: The theoretical calculation of the scaling exponents that characterize the statistics of fully developed turbulence is one of the major open problems of statistical physics. We review the subject, explain some of the recent developments, and point out the road ahead.
