The authors give some general results on Lyapunov-type numbers defined by N. Fenichel [Math. J., Indiana Univ. 21, 193-226 (1971; Zbl 0246.58015)] and their calculation. As example they examine the breakdown mechanism for a 2-torus associated to a system of coupled oscillators.
