Parallel finite element simulation of large ram-air parachutes. (English) Zbl 0882.76045

To solve the title problem, the authors develop a stabilised finite element formulation and use a mesh moving scheme. Parallel implementation aspects are discussed, and a number of experiments are presented for illustration.
