A treatment of internally constrained materials. (English) Zbl 0845.73015
The usual constitutive relations for internally constrained elastic materials are obtained by representing the strain space as the direct sum of the constraint manifold and its orthogonal complement, and then extending the strain energy function defined on the constraint manifold to the whole strain space. A similar approach has also been applied to elastic Cauchy materials.
