This book contains chapters on Fundamental Concepts, Trees and Distances, Matchings and Factors, Connectivity and Paths, Graph Coloring, Edges and Cycles, and Planar Graphs. About one-third of the text is devoted to an additional chapter with independent sections on Perfect Graphs, Matroids, Ramsey Theory, Extremal Problems, Random Graphs, and Eigenvalues. The author includes discussions of proof techniques and algorithmic complexity where appropriate. Anyone using this as a textbook will have no shortage of material from which to select. Many results are incorporated within the more than 850 exercises. Nearly 600 references are cited; and there is a 19 page glossary of terms as well as a 16 page author and subject index.
