A nonlinear axisymmetric bending theory for a circular, planform, shallow, spherical, sandwich shell with a soft core under the action of uniform edge moments is constructed by means of calculus of variations. An analytical solution for the critical buckling edge moment is obtained by use of a modified iteration method.
