Kinnersley, William Symmetries of the stationary axisymmetric vacuum Einstein equations which preserve asymptotic flatness. (English) Zbl 0726.53055 Classical Quantum Gravity 8, No. 5, 1011-1022 (1991). This paper gives a unified treatment of the symmetry transformations of the stationary axially symmetry vacuum Einstein equations. The idea is to single out those transformations preserving asymptotic flatness, which take their simplest form in a new gauge, the modified HKX (Honselaers, Kinnersley, Xanthopoulos) gauge. Those transformations are used to generate new asymptotically flat spacetimes from a known one in HE (Hauser, Ernst) gauge.
