Recent advances in parallel spectral element simulation of unsteady incompressible flows. (English) Zbl 0668.76039
A high-efficiency medium-grained parallel spectral (high-order finite) element method for numerical solution of the unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in general time-dependent domains is presented. The method is implemented on the (fast) Intel vector hypercube, and the performance and optimality of the algorithm-architecture coupling is evaluated in a technical and economic framework that demonstrates the true advantages of parallel solution of fluid flow problems.
