Geroch, Robert Mathematical physics. (English) Zbl 0653.00022 Chicago Lectures in Physics. Chicago, Ill.: University of Chicago Press. VI, 351 p. (1985). This volume is based upon a course given at the University of Chicago and is aptly described by the author as a brief walking tour through various areas of mathematics. The format is largely conversational and allows the author to populate the text with many useful insights. However, as a tour, the visits to many important areas are brief, and the tight schedule forces the tour to bypass some areas (such as differentiable manifolds) of great interest to the intended audience.
