An approximate solution of the integral equation of renewal theory. (English) Zbl 0591.60085
This article deals with an approximation to the solution of the renewal integral equation. The approximation suggested is useful when the renewal density is very skewed. Some numerical comparisons to check the efficiency of the approximation are also made by taking mixed-exponential and gamma densities which have different hazard rate characteristics.
