Zhong, Fenge A two-rigid-body model of the free-falling cat. (Chinese. English summary) Zbl 0589.70014 Acta Mech. Sin. 17, 72-77 (1985). Summary: It is proved in this paper that the inertial orientation of the turning axes of the model of the two rigid bodies remains unaltered while free- falling. Thus such a model can be used only to simulate the free-falling cat landing on its feet from a horizontal position. Here we modify the model in order to explain the free-falling cat landing on its feet from other postures, especially from the perpendicular position.
