This article examines the problem of the interaction between a loaded rigid circular punch bonded to the surface of a transversely isotropic elastic half-space and a concentrated force which acts at a point along the axis of symmetry. The axial displacement of the rigid punch is evaluated in an explicit form. The problem examined has applications in the analysis of an in situ technique used for the testing of geological media.
