A two-equation turbulence model for two-phase flows. (English) Zbl 0564.76098
The objective of this work is to set a theoretical model of particle- laden turbulent flows. After obtaining the time-mean equations of the two phases by performing the conventional Reynolds averaging, the authors propose a closure which is achieved by modeling the turbulent correlations. Thus two equations are derived which describe the turbulence kinetic energy of the carrier fluid and its dissipation rate. For a two-phase round jet, numerical and experimental results are compared.
